Five for Friday - YAY!!!

All I can say is "YAY" - I'm so glad it is Friday!!!  My linky party has turned into a flop, but that's okay, I still have my giveaway!!!  Only one more day to get in on the great prizes (ends at midnight tomorrow)!  Check it out here!

I'm linking up with Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching for the "Five for Friday" linky party.

After 2 weeks in two different hospitals, my dad was finally discharged today and came home.  We have a long road ahead of us still with follow-up visits and treatments, but we are glad he is home.  Thank you to all of you that have sent messages to me!

On Wednesday evening, I hosted my 3rd grade teammates for dinner.  It was a great evening, and we were able to get to know each other a little bit better.  I cooked the three course meal all by myself (this is a huge accomplishment in of itself)...  Below are a few pictures from our evening with my new team (we are short one person because we have an opening for another bilingual teacher - ANY TAKERS???)...  I was also voted in a team leader - Yay! (Check back Monday for details about the gift basket!)

I've been trying to work on the computer to get some products finished, but it has been difficult.  I think today is the first day that I've had a good amount of time to sit down and work.  In addition, I'm starting to feel a little panicky!  It's August 1st, and my "back-to-school" to-do list is not getting any shorter - UGH!  I need to start cranking that stuff out along with the products I'm working on...  Why does July go by so fast???

My little TpT store has been busy these last couple of days!  I'm so excited that teachers are downloading one of my products.  I promise to get some more things uploaded soon, as well as, feature how I use them in my classroom this year.  Stop by and see if you can use the genre posters in your classroom (click on the picture to go to TpT store)!

Monday will be our 1st 9 weeks team planning day.  Our team will meet to review the student expectations and skills that we will be teaching.  Everything involves food for us, so we are planning breakfast and a picnic-style lunch.  I created an interactive notebook for teachers this summer that my principal has decided to use school-wide.  Below are some of the pictures!

I typed a "shortened" version of all of the Texas standards for 3rd grade.  These will be glued into the front and back covers as a quick reference during meetings.  The notebooks have 5 sections: Calendars & Schedules, Grade Level Meetings, PLC Meetings, Facutly Meetings, Committee Meetings.  The cover page above for the first section is the same for each section.  It matches our school-wide theme: 60s & Peace...

As I said above, we plan every 9 weeks for the following 9 weeks.  This allows the teams to review the standards and skills for the upcoming 9 weeks, as well as, look closely at assessments.  This is when we decide on common assessments.  So, every 9 weeks we will have a new title page.  This year, I created an At-A-Glance page that lists the "big ideas" for each week in all of the subjects.  In the first column, I also included important school events for that week.  Many times, these events cut into our instructional time, so it is important to plan ahead.

The next piece to include is a calendar for only the 9 weeks.  We write everything happening at school on this calendar.  This calendar is often referenced when planning each week with the team.  We will also select a date for all of the common assessments.

The rest of the pages are currently blank, but will fill up through out the school year.

Tonight I sat and printed all of the scope & sequence documents for the 1st 9 weeks, created an agenda, printed all of the teacher notebook inserts, and common assessments (created by the district).  Now, I just need to to get to school early Monday morning to copy all of this stuff!!!

Have a great weekend!
