First Day of School... Is it almost really here???

I'm linking up to Jodi's Linky Party about First Day of School activities...  IT'S MY FIRST LINKY PARTY TO JOIN!!!

Fun in First

I love the first week of school, especially the first day of school.  I typically do some "mini-lessons" for each subject the first day with a lot of time for students to learn and practice routines.  Here are some of my documents that I use the first day and throughout the first week of school...

  1. Summer Reading Inventory
  2. Fall Response Form
  3. Math About Me Poster
  4. All About Me Poster
I like to read a lot of books as well...  This year, I'll be reading several books through the first week...  They are:
  • The Best Book to Read, by D. Bertram
  • Odd Velvet, by M. Whitcomb
  • Judy Moody Was in a Mood, by M. McDonald
  • Gleam and Glow, by E. Bunting
  • Walter the Lazy Mouse, by M. Flack
  • Richard Wright and the Library Card, by W. Miller
  • Thank You Mr. Falker, by P. Polacco
  • Don’t Laugh at Me, by S. Seskin
  • Dear Teacher, by A. Husband
  • Goin’ Someplace Special, by P. McKissack
  • The Best Story, by E. Spinelli

Several of the above mentioned documents were probably created by someone else...  If they are y our idea, please post your name in the comments section!  I've lost track of the original creators...  I guess the say is true - Teachers beg, borrow, and steal... :)
